My Lionel #646 loco has sparks coming out of the roller pick-ups. Any ideas as to whats causing this, and any possible fixes? And the front and rear trucks have developed a nasty habit of jumping the tracks.

Try checking/cleaning the pick-up rollers, wheels and track. Usually you'll find a streak of dirt on the roller or dirty center rail. You could use denatured alcohol or Goo Gone on a piece of cloth for cleaning, do not use steelwool or sandpaper.

As for the trucks jumping the track an extra heavy dirt buildup on the wheels could also cause this. Or, if the problem occures at the same spot each time, check the track for irregularities.

Good luck.
