Estimated value on some old Flyer Accessories???
Posted by railroaded on Sunday, July 23, 2006 2:35 PM

I was recently given 3 old American Flyer accessories. All three needed some light repair work to get them running again. I'm into O guage and have no concept of the vintage, price, or rarity of any Flyer trains whatsoever. I'm guessing these were from right around 1952 due to the date on one of the boxes for some smaller electrical parts included with these accessories. What would be a rough estimate on the value of a Sam the Semaphore Man with a grey base, cream colored watchman's shack with red trim, green metal roof, two button crontroller, and black semaphore pole, a Rotating Beacon Tower with a watchman's shed attached to the green base, grey tower and green platform, and a RR Crossing Signal with Crossbuck and 2 red lights, with a green base and silver pole?

-Thanks in advance

Would need to see a good set of detailed photos first.

Scanner took a dump and no dig camera, so no go for pics. I don't want collector value, I'm going to mix them in with my Lionel stuff, and keep them operating here at home, but I was just curious of a ball park figure of what I got in return for trade on these when I gave away about half a ton of  #2 round stone and a few extra, leftover rose bushes, probably $30.00 or less my cost. In my mind I got the better end of the deal but I wanted to see if I could put a feeler out there for the rough estimate on what these 3 items were worth, say at a train show or e-bay or whatever. They are in what I would rate as "good" to "fair" used condition and it only cost me about $5.00 in parts and 2 hours of my time to get them up and running again. I'm guessing they're worth less than $100.00 for all three but I was just wondering if I'm in the right area price wise.

I would say $100. would be a good price, if you could get it. I feel old Flyer accessories are still a bargain for buyers. Joe
