When we were newlyweds we were ever so happy when we only ate "Spam" because we wanted and no longer had to because we couldn't afford real pork. [:o)]

Spam IS real pork -- it's spiced pork shoulder, a real American food -- moreso than those sissy grits! [(-D][(-D][(-D]

Seriously, check out these nutty Spamaholics:

Five years ago the Chief declared everything that I posted on the forum was SPAM. As you can see, his opinion has not changed. [;)]

How about Spam and Velveeta (plastic cheese) on pumpernickel?

Spam is real pork like chicken nuggets are real chicken. [X-)]
They start out real but after "slice and dice and extruding" they appear to be something a bit less then real. However when an extremely tight budget dictates your grocery purchases they can can be mighty tastey. [C=:-)] [dinner]
I think the only way I haven't prepared Spam is in a wok, but at that time I didn't have one.

I'm with you there. Spam is like a big brick of hotdog meat, in a way. And I love Chicago-style hotdogs.

I'm not the only once-starving writer on this board, but I think all of us can tell you one of the first things you need to do when starting a writing career is to buy the book "1001 Ways To Disguise Macaroni & Cheese" and use it on nights when there's no Spam or Ramen noodles in the cupboard. [:D]

I'll try to get this back on track.
Was'nt there a SPAM boxcar issued a while back?
Maybe we could petition Lionel or MTH to make one up for Christmas if enough of us pre-order. If it were done as a tribute or presentation type of issue complete with an official can of SPAM, then in five years we could all post them on E-Bay for $600.00 and call them "RARE" and that would be true, but only if the can were unopened and the box was in MINT condition.

My wife brought me home a biography of Spam... the canned meat. It said during WWII, we imported tons and tons of the stuff to the UK. After eating it, it was common for them to save the cans, and make toy cars and trains out of the tin.

I'd sure love to see one of those trains made from Spam cans...
