What is the best solution or liguid to use to clean traction tires on O gauge locomotives, both diesel and steam. I do not want to ruin the rubber by using the wrong solution. Thank you to all

I've heard to stay away from GOO-Gone, or other similar sovents. I'd take a guess that alcohol would be safe since the track cleaning solutions sold by Lionel are basicly alcohol.

Rubbing alcohol would be fine for the rubber traction tires.

Since alcohol is used to clean "Cassete decks" in stereo's, its fine for pretty much all rubber.
(there are rubber wheels that help move the tape in a cassete deck, that needs cleaned.)
If its good enough for the rubber wheels in a tape deck, its good enough for traction tires.

Wabash is right on. I was in broadcasting for 35 years and we used denatured alcohol to clean tape machine rubber pinch rollers. I've been using it for years to clean track, wheels, traction tires with no ill effects. You can buy it by the gallon at Lowes. John Harding
