another smoke resisitor gone!!!!Dang

Okay this resistor in my 2056 lasted only a couple of weeks. I installed it without
a wick and it still died like the first one. What gives?
I'm using JT Megasteam fluid and I noticed smoke output was down this operationg session but while the loco was pretty warm from running I added about 5 drops and it just died. No smoke.
If this keeps up I'll have to reconvert back to pill.
Can anyone offer any insight into what I'm doing wrong with these. They're just not lasting for me.

Hello Mike! The Resistor needs a Wick around it to absorb the Smoke Fluid & to keep it from burning out. The other part of your problem is adding Smoke Fluid to a Hot Resistor. This should never be done at all. Always add fluid when it is cooled off. Not when it's hot. Otherwise, You'll shorten it's life span. Take Care.

Mike if you take the wick off because it is charred and not working, more material is needed to soak up the smoke. I use pink insulation in the fluid cup and locate the resistor such that it soaks up the fluid from the insulation.
