Lionel smoke unit parts
Posted by ole1 on Thursday, April 20, 2006 11:06 AM
I'm trying to find the part number for the smoke unit resistor that goes in the 8082-200 smoke unit assembly in the 8000 series Lionel locomotive. I have gotten these in the past but don't have the part number and can't seem to find my old order. The exploded view from Lionel only shows the unit assembly.

I don't know if any of you have the same difficulty in finding parts but I often find it hard to get a picture along with a part number so I can make sure I'm ordering what I need. Maybe that's part of being an old geezer, but I can figure things out easier if I can see what I'm dealing with.

Hello Ole! It seems your best bet would be to call the Lionel Service Dept & explain your situation to them & see what they can do to help you out. Make sure you call their Tech Dept though so that you can get a more definate answer. Their phone# is 1-586-949-4100. Hope this helps you out. Take Care.

Ole, I've got a couple of these locos, too. I've tentatively identified the heater as 600-8141-055, but have sent an e-mail to Lionel for verification. I'll post again when I get a reply.

I received a reply this morning from Lionel tech service to my query. The part number for the smoke unit resistor for 8082-200 smoke units is 600-8141-055. The e-mail quoted a price of $1.35.

BTW, this is the same resistor used in the kits to retrofit postwar pellet-type smoke units.

Thanks for the info. I know I've gotten these before but it easier to find with the right parts number.
Ole
