Why do toy train companies make non-prototype Loco's and rolling stock?

I own an area 51set and I also own a Phantom lll set. If you saw the looks of wonder and amazement on peoples faces you would own one too. If you want scale real lifelike
railroading get a job on the U.P. CSX, NS or the CNBNSF.
