New Lionel Christmas Catalog
Posted by tschmidt on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 9:12 PM
I see the new catalog is out. About 8 to 10 pages long. I see that there are new items for the Polar Express. A hot chocolate car, a hand car, and some new figurines.

Now there are 6 cars in that train.

I picked one up yesterday from my local dealer. I did not see it yet on the Lionel website. I went back and looked and it has 14 pages of stuff in it. I wonder how many different cars they will keep coming out with for the P.E.

Buckeye,

I found that strange also. The dealer didn't even know that the new catalog was coming. He said he found out about it whwn it arrived at the store.

Thatboy37, is there an authorized Lionel dealer near you? TomS is telling us that he found the catalog at his dealer in Hamburg, NY (near Buffalo). I'm going to look around here in Central Ohio for a catalog.

jaabat,

The new car is the "hot chocolate" car and not the diner. Don't reserve the wrong one.

thatboy37,
Tom has a complete PE and I bought one and gave it to my daughter. She runs it under her tree at Christmas. I don't think you were on the forum when I posted photos of her layout under the tree.

The layout was real simple. The lights are under the "snow". The snow is a batting you buy for pillows at Jo-Ann's. They are just Christmas lights. The buildings were from Sam's Club.

Not to intentionally send anyone to MTJ from here but I posted some pics of the new Polar Express stuff part of the catalog here... http://www.modeltrainjournal.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3005

I am not a dealer nor do I have anything to do with anything other than passing on the info...

Thanks

well me too Marty.

By the way only got mine about 2 months ago and was very impressed by this set. Can't say enough good thing about that Berkshire (already had one from a previous set) and the car are much nicer than expected .

Well Lionel is on to something with this license and hope to see it growing for many years to come.

It sounds like Lionel will have to make a lot of these cars. They must know how many PE sets are out there. I wonder what percentage they use to plan on how many to make.

I would love to see a more scale sized version for my regular layout but for now these seem to do the trick. I was hoping the rest of the cast was going to be released. Like I said I would love to see a sleigh and reindeer as well and maybe an elf pack of about a dozen elves. Lionel does have a nice little nitch IMO and hopefully will keep adding to it. I just hope, and imagine with the WB studio watcjing, they keep true to the movie. Now if I can figure out how to make some cars appear and disappear on whim like the movie.

I read somewhere that the Christmas catalog is supposed to be online tomorrow, monday. I want to see the Christmas 4-4-0 and tank.
