Live From Chesterfield, MI, it's the Big "L"
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 3:33 PM
Today was quite an interesting day, besides it being cold, blustery and slightly snowy. Had a run out in the Detroit area, moreso north of it in Clinton Twp, and where I picked up at was only 3 miles from the good ol' headquarters of Lionel so I decided to make a small detour to there before I had to head back to the west side of the state.

Unfortunately the visitor's center wasn't open until 1:30pm and I wasn't able to stay that long so I took a few pics of the building and the sign out front. This is the first time in my life that I have been able to see the place of all places in model trains (other than MTH which is in MD) live and in person. So without delay, here are a few pics of the Big L:

I should have taken a pic of the whole building on the outside, but unfortunately by the time I thought of it I was already back on the highway.....oh well maybe next time, and this time I hope to be able to visit the visitors center as well. At least now when I see the 'Chesterfield, MI' on the back of the Lionel boxes we purchase from the hobby shops, at least now I can finally say I was there!

Nice pics, I live up the road from you,(Spring Lake) and hope to make the trip myself
some day,but only during good weather. Ten years of driving daily to G.R. in the winter was enough for me.
