Feedback on Weaver Steam Locomotives?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 20, 2006 1:18 PM
Hi,

I'm new to O, so I'm just getting to know the various manufacturers and products. I've found a Weaver Die Cast USRA Light Pacific Steamer
in a road name I want at a good price, and it seems to be well equiped with TMCC and Railsounds. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this particular product and how Weaver compares in general to the other manufacturers like Lionel and MTH?

Thanks for any feedback you can provide!

My Weaver Baldwin 2-8-0s w/TMCC have run very well. One on my shelf RR runs very regularly with a 10 car Work/MOW train. I do not run smoke so I cannot comment on that.
I have a Weaver pacific but it is a streamlined version of the Southern "Tennessean" from the early '90s.[been upgraded to TM/RS 4.0].

For what it's worth, my weaver diesels have done a fine job. Whenever I have had trouble, they have been willing to help and have got the probelm resolved.

If you are talking about Weavers latest run of light Pacifics they are identical to the K-line scale Pacifics except for the roadnames. Weaver made them jointly with K-Liine. Excellent smooth running scale engines with great detail.

I purchased a Weaver USRA Pacific (N&W) last year. As iguanaman said, they are identical to the K-line scale Pacifics. I have the K-line B&O too. It's my understanding the Locomotive were a join venture with K-line and were made by Korean Brass. Mine run and look great. I have had no problems with either. The loco is comparabile to Lionel's scale offerings.

If you haven't bought it yet, check out www.justrains.com . They had a pretty good sale going but I haven't checked their site lately.
