O Scale locomotives without engines
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, February 9, 2006 11:34 AM
I am looking for O scale locomotives without engines. Are they available? I would intertain buying non-functioning ones as long as they are cosmetically perfect, at least on one side. Thanks. Kent Samuelson

Dummy diesel units are available. I've never seen a manufactured steam locomotive dummy.

Atlas offers many of their diesel locomotives as dummies. They aren't inexpensive, however. If I'm not mistaken, Williams also offers dummy units for some of their engines and would be considerably less expensive. Lionel has had a few dummy units over the years. I have a dummy GP-9 from the 1970s.

You might want to elaborate on what you mean by "cosmetically perfect." Are you speaking of scale fidelity or in like-new condition?

Williams has some unpowerd diesel units for sale at a good price. Are you looking for a sound unit or horn with the unpowered unit? Try williamstrains.com

I'll take a look at Williams. Thanks. Atlas does not have any available at this time, atleaset from the company. Perhaps I'd do better going to a retail store. I am looking for "like new condition", not necessarily exactly to scale. I do not need sound or a horn. I am using them on light fixtures I'm building. They do not illumine either, they just sit on top and look pretty!
