Question on Lionel non powered loco's
Posted by IronHoarse on Sunday, January 22, 2006 11:49 AM
Here is another silly question. Does anyone know if Lionel non powered locomotives, like the ones in the new catalog, have headlights, marker lights , etc. ? The catalog says nothing about any lights. Not sure that I would want one with no lights.

The newest Lionel dummy I have is in a 2383 pair from the sixties. It does have lights. Some of the early F3s (2353) even had the horn in the dummy.

It's not a silly question - it's a good one!

Other than the FA/PA/F-3 units, the dummy's appear to lack lights. This interpretation is based on the photos of the powered units showing lit cabs vs. photos of the dummy (non-powered) units showing dark cabs. OTOH, some of the photos in the 2006 catalog appear to show rollers between the truck wheels.

Lionel offered a lot of dummy's in the 80's that didn't have lights. I added pickup rollers and lights to my GP-20 dummy. The modification was easy, but I wish it had come with lights in the first place. I'm hoping the U30C dummy I plan to get already comes with at least the pickup rollers.
