'06 Lionel Catalog
Posted by dwiemer on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 2:36 PM
I can hardly wait! I am drooling on my keyboard as I wait these next 8+ hours for the new Lionel Catalog to open on the website. If my wife finds me in the morning slumped over the computer, she will find we with a "wish list" in my hands. I am getting my pencil and paper ready. I hope to hear what everyone else is putting on the wish list.

#1 on my wish list is sufficient funds to cover the remaining items on my wish list. [:D]

I was considering concentrating on the SP roadname, but will be interesting to see if as a result of the UP lawsuit if anything is offered and if it is will it happen?

Hopefully something to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Standard gauge. I ain't holding my breath, though.

Update: Here's the link for the new catalog:

Clint- Good News! Lionel has the 269 Tinplate Freight Set from 1935 in this catalog. Maybe they will finally release a 1688 set either this year or in the future? Looks Good to me.[:)]

Clint,
Thanks for posting the site. After having spent the last hour going through it, I have seen a few must haves. My wife aint gonna like it. I think I will start with the railsounds caboose.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for a 1688 set, Keith! My preference in prewar runs toward Standard gauge, but I always liked the O gauge torpedo engines and sets. We know that Lionel still has the tooling for the 238E loco, so... who knows?

Dennis: That caboose is my 1st choice also ! In TMCC, you can uncouple it anywhere on the layout plus I always liked the way you can turn off the interiour lights & turn off the rear marker light all seperately, plus, you can lash it up to engines, & they all talk back & forth. I'm on my 2nd Erie TMCC cabose now ! Hope you get it & like it !! Thanks, John

It has been a hard day at work today. I punched the view catalog button on the computer at 1 second past midnight this morning and didn't turn off the computer until nearly 1:00 A.M.! There were times I worried about my second childhood but I don't think I ever left the first one. Not too many items in the new catalog I can't live without, except for the Acela add ons and perhaps the Commodore Vanderbilt passenger cars. I don't have a clue as to where I am going to put all the things I'm still waiting for and what I plan to order. It is still a big thrill to see the new catalog tho.
