Fastrack Switches and Marx
Posted by krapug1 on Sunday, January 15, 2006 2:13 PM

Heres a new one to ponder.

I am converting the main track loop on my layout from 031 Tubular Track to
036 Fastrack using the adapter tracks to keep some straight sections Tubular.
I am also debating as to replacing my 022 switches with Fastrack Switches, so I used a pair of manual Fastrack Switches to see what they would look like and how they would work with my track footprint.

Part of my collection consists of Marx, and the Marx Engines that I have all pass through the 022 switches without any problem (My Marx Engines are the 1998 S-2, 333, 666, and 1829 steamers, the Budd Car, and the 1095 E-7).

Granted I could bypass the fastrack switches by using the adapter section, but are there any other known Fastrack Switch problems???

Thanks

Generally speaking, if an engine will traverse on O22 switch, it should have no problems with a Fastrack O-36 switch.

My Marx 1095 Santa Fe glides through a 022 Switch with barley a flicker in it's headlight, yet it derails every time on either of my 2 Fastrack manual switches.

I'll check to see how the Marx 1998, and 666 roll on Monday.
