Fastening lionel trestle set?
Posted by msacco on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 7:34 PM
Installing the lionel trestle set and I"m having a problem with the modern plastic clips that come with it now. THey seem to separate the track sections when you insert them.
I"m wondering if the original metal T nuts that came with the postwar sets are better and will work the modern trestle set. I"m using O gauge tracks and I believe these nuts are available from parts dealers.
The modern trestle set seems to be an exact match of the postwar set except for the fasteners.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike,

I had this problem also. The reason that the track sections do not go completely together is because the holes in the ties of postwar track are centered. One solution to this problem is new track. New sections will go completely together because the holes in the ties are offset.
