Problems inserting pics.
Posted by danrunner on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 8:02 PM
I wanted to share my first layout and thanks with the group, but I can't figure out how to post my pics. Yes, I read the directions, and NO they don't help.

Are you using Shutterfly for hosting your pictures ? I had a hard time of it at first also.

danrunner - it's easiest if you don't use the quickreply box and instead use the Reply to Topic function. There is a button for inserting pictures. Go to your picture wherever it is stored on the internet. Right click on it. Choose properties. Highlight and copy the URL for the picture. Then in the Reply to Topic form, click on the insert picture button. This will put in the code that shows the picture. Now, just past the picture in between the coded sections and hi preview.

I have not been able to figure it out either. I do have my photos on Shutterfly and I use a Mac. I have followed the instructions but I'm just getting frustrated.

I would think there would be a way to import them from iphoto. I may have to explore that possibility.

Good luck danrunner.

I've wondered about this question myself. Does the picture have to have its own URL? Can't it be pasted from a file on my PC?

Yes it needs it own URL address. The forum only links your posting to the URL of the pic. Therefore you cannot past the pic from a file on your PC.

Thanks for the help. I was hoping for a drag and drop solution, but I have website pic hosting and have some pics of my first layout and my Hudson ready for viewing.

Where do most of you place your pics for website viewing so you have a convenient URL? Does your IP provide that service?

PhotoBucket will also host pics and provide a copy and paste URL .

Yes it's FREE ! [:D] [ url]http://photobucket.com/[/url]

The image below is currently on PhotoBucket.

Really easy to do.

Not all IP photo host will allow sharing of your pics on the forum. [:(]

I and many here on the forum use Shutterfly. I also is free and not a bad place to order prints, etc from. [;)]

I use my free webspace that came with my subscription to charter.net. I downloaded a free html editor that uses copy and paste to create my webpage - it's called PageBreeze. It works pretty good if you don't mind ads running on the application. I am thinking of buying a better program one of these days with more functions. I wonder what MartyE (?) uses?

Thanks to all of you for the suggestions on the available webspace. Especially Jim, I appreciate the tip on charter. I have charter webspace that I have totally not used. This looks like a good application for it. Now I just need to find a good web editor and dive into that. One of these days I'll be able to post pics just like the rest of you guys!
