K-line warranty experience?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 3:56 PM
K-line received my blown 120 watt transformer today. Does anyone have any warranty service experience with K-Line that might serve as an indicator as to when I should expect it back? [:)]

I know the 'powerchief' isn't the most impressive unit ever, but I'm using one of Lionel's less spectacular 40 watters in the meantime... Not their shining moment in transformer engineering...

Uh oh. Is that just a friendly "Good luck" or is that a "Good luck, buddy - you'll need it!" :)

Hopefully you'll be ok ! K-line is just going through a bit of reorganizing right now, & since you recieved word from them, I think you'll be fine. May take longer due to Christmass now, with all the extra sales. At least they acknowledged to you that they have it & that should be good ! I'm sure right now they want to get customers & keep them ! Keep us posted !
Thanks, John

Haven't had the need to contact them for a while, but when I did, they always treated me right. After describing my symptoms with a locomotive problem, they would send me the parts needed, no questions asked, no charge. Depending on the part, they would sometimes request that I return the bad one, in which case I would just drop it back in the same box, address it, and put it in the mail.

This time of year, they would sometimes 4-6 weeks to get a part in the mail. Other times of the year, I've had them in 4 days.

Always very friendly and responsive.

I have returned two engines and one was returned fixed and they gave me a replacement for the other one. Also when I did not know about fuses for my post war ZW's I blew the circuit board in my first TMCC engine and they sent me a new board (twice). In talking to Sherman and Martin they have always been helpful and knowledgeable about their product.

k-Line if fine fixing the big things. Don't attempt to get them to repair their remote operating cars (because the cars break again as soon as returned to you . Buy Mikes our lionel operating cars and reduce the stress. The Chineese
lady the will be buying K-Line will no doubt increse the overall quality of K-Line
products and their customer service ethic. Never try to reach the CEO( you can
talk to him at York but forget what he tells you for he is fibbing)! Next time get
a MRC pure power transformer (don't pay retail 25% discount is easy to get).
The reason is the transformer is pure sine wave and won't cause any side
effects of horns and sound systems. It has a gtreat breaker system also.
