First MTH Protosound 2 Conversion!
Posted by 4kitties on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 10:50 AM
Hi all,

Davis Trains in Ohio just finished my first PS2 conversion, on my Weaver brass PRR M1a. They converted the red class lights in front to green at my request, they installed a backup light on the tender, and they converted the Seuth smoke unit to fan-driven. They loaded a proper M1 sound set. They set the chuff rate as close as possible to 4 per revolution, something that's nearly impossible to get exactly right without major work like re-gearing and changing the flywheel. But, you have to watch the rods pretty closely to see that it's not perfect, and I'm very happy with it. The synchronized puffing smoke is dynamite! In true MTH fashion, one trip around my mainline and the train room looks like postwar Pittsburgh.

I had several PS2 locos already, but this is my first PS2 steamer. I am so happy with it, I wanted to share the news and give the great people at Davis a plug. I had been waiting a long time to add sound to this model, and I'm glad I waited a little longer for the PS2 kits. I have DCS and this loco is really fun to run now. [:D]

It sounds great Joe! To me that sort of thing is the best possible. A huge steamer with all the extra's and synchronised smoke and sound..

Welcome to Smoke Heaven Joel. I love all my MTH PS2 steamers.

I am a person with a very active inner child. This is why my wife loves me so. Willoughby, Ohio - the home of the CP & E RR. OTTS Founder www.spankybird.shutterfly.com
