LGB Marshall Fields Collectors Set
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, December 19, 2005 10:35 AM
My Grandfather recently passed down his LGB train set purchased from Marshall Fields in Chicago back around 1986. With Marshall Fields set to lose their name to Macy's I'm wondering if there is any collector value to this set. I don't have a model number however the trian cars have the name Marshall Fields on them. 2 cars with one engine and about a 48' round track. Any information I can get in regard to the collector value or rarity of this set would be much appriciated. Thank You

There may be some collector interest in Field's branded items of all types - especially closer to the date of the transfer when there is more media attention, but the only counsel I would have to share is to peruse collector groups or auction websites...

To elaborate: Ebay *can* be an excellent barometer of market value (it is not foolproof) -- provided the item has been offered enough times to get a representative sample of closing price... make certain to use the "search completed auctions" feature....
