Tmcc man: I hope your label didn't fall off, mine was about to, & others said theirs was coming off, too. Hope you get it soon, if not, you may have to get a hold of them. Thanks, John

John,
i am going to wait 2 more days, because i am also expecting my Garden Railways Magazine to come as well. I looked in the mailbox today and the only thing in there was my Car and Driver. The good thing was that my favorite car was on the cover. The Legendary Corvette Z06. It is bright yellow. I could go on and on about the specs, but that would be toooo long.

tmcc, don't worry. I had one lost last year. As soon as I notified them, another one was in the mail. Great folks.

Would you believe it but I recieved CTT on the 26th [:O] along with OGR, thats great service being over here in the UK. [:)][wow] However the OGR is often very late which puzzles me as CTT is always on time and in perfect condition. I particularly liked the article on the "Hardboard Hoboken" [tup] as I'm looking to build a station building to go with my Ace Trains station canopy.

Yep, I had the same experience, and they sent me a backissue of the lost number too.
Mine arrived today, adress label is in the "plastic bag" which is around the magazine.
I guess that's because I'm overseas and as a result of that my magazines are always clean and in very good shape when they arrive.

Glad to see the UK posting. Daan, that is good mailing. You probably get better postal service than the USPS here. I do not think ability to read is a requirement. [;)] Got an envelope in my mail box the other day that was for another person [name was not even close to mine], another address and another town. Then only thing that was even close to my address was the house number [not the street]. [:D] Think of the number of steps it went through to be delivered to the wrong address.

Don't those Ace trains look great, wizard? Too bad they are so expensive over here. I guess taxes/quality of life are all relative - here in Chicago, you have 10% sales tax, a state income tax AND high property taxes...and still chaotic schools, crumbling infrastructure, few jobs, etc.

Daniel, I LIKE the ads in CTT and OGR - :) perusing them for me is one of the best parts of the magazines. In fact, I wish - and CTT probably agrees - there were more ads in CTT...

I'm happy for you, Rivet. I love it here too. I'm just saying some of these perceptions about one part of the country vs. another are kind of relative...YMMV

Didn't get mine yet - I just subscribed a few weeks ago. I had bought a few issues at the store, and then I couldn't find the September issue at any of the usual places including the Hobby shop. I finally found the last issue at Borders. So, I went online and subscribed at the high price to guarantee I would get the next issue in the mail - this is per the online ad. Well - I'm waiting!

Doug your'e right about the Ace trains, they are great value over here, [8D] however I'm sure it balances out every time I buy a Lionel locomotive, with the shipping and UK value added tax (17.5%) plus customs and local postage charge it soon adds up. I have an excel spread sheet that calculates the cost based on all the items I have ordered over the last couple of years. A $1000 locomotive costs me about $1430 by ther time it arrives! [:O] You have to be really keen to enjoy Lionel in the UK, but we have nothing which can match the features in ready to run O-Gauge.

The Ace gear is great.

BTW the VAT is deducted from non-European orders. BTW I regularly order good from the UK (mainly either model railway goods from Hattons, or books from Amazon UK) and if the force is strong, get the item in about a week and a half shipped via air. Most recently I placed an order with Hattons that was processed on Monday 22d and I received it on Monday the 29th.

Note to subscribers: The US on-sale date is the 6th. Our customer service section will send out replacements for lost or damaged copies.

I read the new issue of CTT at the library and was reading Neil Besougloff's story about the unfortunate incident at the home of Kent Johnson's Fathers' house. Anyway.Good thing the fire did not get larger. Perhaps the manufacturers should consider the use of a Fuse connected in between the Pickup Rollers and the Circuit Board for just such an occasion in case such a thing happens in a Tunnel or other area of a Layout that cannot be seen or accessed easily. The Companies could sell the fuses as kits if they deem them too expensive to add on at the Factory. Lucky thing that Theo ( Kent's Five Year old son) saw that the Trolley was on Fire after it had derailed. Otherwise who knows what would have happened if nobody had seen the fire at all!

That was a cute article with luckily a happy ending. How many times have you replied to someone in that way? "Yes, that's what they're supposed to do" while mis-understanding the real message? I bet "Pop-pop" will put his trolley line on a more modern transformer now! :)
Oh, and I got my CTT on Friday, and the new Lionel catalog on Saturday. Woohoo!

Now that we all have our Oct. CTT, let's discuss it.

I thought this was a great issue all around. Of special interest to me was the article on building a hardboard terminal. Mr. Hilderbrand did a great job on that structure, and after reading his work, I came away with some ideas of my own.

The Lionel switchers article was also quite interesting, as was Roger Carp's article on Alan Wishegrad's layout.

The one article that I thought I would get nothing out of was John Rusterholz' wiring switches for quick routing. No knock against John, but I'm electrically challenged to put it nicely. Wiring articles always make my eyes glass over. But much to my surprise, I found the article very fascinating easy to understand, and informative!

Nice job, CTT. The next issue looks like a winner as well.

Jim
