New motor for Kusan Switcher?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 8:01 PM
I have an old Kusan switcher - actually I think it was made by Williams back in 80s when they began reusing old Kusan molds. This is the short, stubby Geep-looking thing. The body is in great shape but the guts are long gone. Has anyone ever tried to put a different motor/chassis in one of these? It's different looking enough that I'd like to get it running but I've tried Lionel's four-wheels steam frames (with the DC motor) and a Lionel power truck from a diesel. Neither fit. Any suggestions?

A couple suggestions: Contact the TCA, Train Collector's Association at their Strasburg, PA HQ and ask for research. Perhaps someone will have a lead for you; 2) leave a similar message with ogauge model railroading magazine forum - the best "attended" 3-rail ogauge bulletin board going http://www.ogaugerr.com/forum.htm; 3) try email to kusanman@aol.com, an long time collector of Kusan. If he is willing, he may have ideas for you. Best of luck....
