Thought this was an interesting find for those wanting to move up to a larger scale.

It looked interesting until I figured out that the opening bid is $2250, plus the trucking charge from Maine. Each rail weighs 120 pounds. The auction is rather deceptive, because it is starting at $1.50 per foot, so the next incrimental bid would be $2.00 adding $750 to the total. I don't think it's worth that, and the shipping.

I see there is actually a bid. I kind of doubt there will be another, but there are still 5 days left.

After taking another look at the listing, I see that the seller is willing to allow the winner to take as much of it as they want, up to the whole lot. That helps, but it could be messy for the seller.

It should have been a "Dutch" auction:

Bob, I was thinking that too, but it may be a clever move by the seller to disguise the total price of the sale. After all, that is what eBay bases it's fee on. In this way the winning bid won't likely go over $3. Dutch auctions cost even more to run.

Yes, I'd like to buy one foot please. Just box it up and send it via UPS. [:o)][:p][;)][:D] The problem is he needs to find 1499 other idiots like me who just want a foot.[swg][8]
