I got a kick out of this poster - listed on the bay.

Trains and coffee - Does it get any better than this?

I love these old ads! I can recall seeing another vintage ad with the combination of trains and coffee. It was advertising some kind of espresso and showed an image that was suposed to look like a steam locomotive in front of a buffer beam. The "locomotive" had a spout on the front and was a coffee pot or dispenser. It was a nice blend of two images in one and looked a great deal like those old Art Deco French railway ads of the 30's. If you haven't seen the French ads I'm refering to, they're among the most artistically stunning of ads from that period.

(To tell you the truth, though, I'm not much of a coffee drinker myself. I've always prefered tea.)

I've always admired coffee tin art with the rich reds, blacks, and greens. It would be nice if someone did woodsheathed billboard coffee boxcars of the scale variety. Maybe this would be up K-Line's alley.

Reminds me of a poster I used to see quite regularly - decades back - for Harvey House. Man oh man - what great memories!

Thanx for the nostalgia trip! [tup]
