GOT MARX?

If not, you better buy this lot on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=19147&item=5979780655&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

It contains the full recommended value of Marx locomotives and rolling stock and is an excellent source of O27 track. It also contains Hafner and Lionel for added flavour.

In all seriousness now, I counted the following:
-18 Marx Steam Locomotives (some just bodies)
-16 Marx Tenders
-8 Marx Diesel Locomotives
-4 Marx B-Units
-76 Marx Freight Cars
-13 Marx Articulated Passenger Cars
-2 Hafner Steam Locomotives
-3 Hafner Freight Cars
-6 Lionel Freght Cars

In total, that adds up to 146 pieces. Then, there's also the Girard station, various parts and all the track. Imagine what shipping would be for it all!

WOWZA,
That sure is a lot of tin.
Hey Sask,Did you see the other stuff that guy is selling?
A bunch of neat Japanese tin stuff like TN,and Sakai, etc.
What do you think that stuff will go for?

Cheers,
Carl T.

That's quite a haul. Sold fairly cheap too!

I think I'll lay my train collection out in the yard this weekend and take a couple pictures.

Sask, the seller was one of those crazy Quebecians. Oui, Oui - Bon jour

I don't have any original Marx, aside from a couple of accessories, but I have a ton of New Marx (no longer made by the Flynns) which I hope to someday display on an all-tinplate layout. Everything is new in box, and all I need is more space to be able to give these colorful and reliable trains an appropriate showcase layout, supplemented in some manner by a display case so the trains not being operated can also be viewed and admired.

I actually tried selling the entire collection a few months ago, but didn't get any offers. I'm kind of glad that I didn't, because the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that I should just hold onto these neat toy trains.

Probably the reason that it didn't go higher was because shipping on such a huge lot would be very expensive. Anyway, somebody will be having fun going through it all.

Carl, Yes, I did. Actually, I was considering bidding on that lot myself. It's the type of stuff I really love. I'm surprised that it didn't go much higher. There was one set that I really wanted from that lot, but I already had many of the other items. Plus, the seller would have made me pay taxes and didn't take Paypal. There are a few other items I'm watching on ebay right now and iso in the end I decided against it.
