GarGraves Track
Posted by underworld on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 11:54 AM
Anyone use or have experience with GarGraves track? I'm looking for some gauge 1 3-rail track and they are the only company that I have found that is making it currently. It is tinplate rail with blackened center rail and wooden ties.

I,and many others on the forum, have used GarGraves O-gauge track. I used the flex track, black ctr. rail, and enjoyed working with it. Once you have an idea of the most common radius curve(s) you will use cut templates for bending the track, it makes things much faster. A dremel with a good cut-off blade is a great tool to have also.

I love it!

I don't think you can go wrong with it.

Roger The gauge 1 is the same with the black center rail....I just got to see a sample of it the other day at the hobby store. Good idea for the
template!!!

eZAK After having just seen the sample......and the price ($5.00 per 37 inch section) I think this stuff is great too!!!

Thanks!

Underworld,
I have several hundred feet of the flex track on my layout. The template is definately a good idea. Also you can pencil in the curves on your surface material , whaterer you use,( plywood?) and then follow the lines. I have also drawn tracing lines using old 042 and 072 track and then bend and screw it down as you go. As others said use a dremel witha large cutoff wheel. I think the wheel I have is 1 1/4" dia.
You can find the track on ebay for 185.00 a box . I bought several boxes from AM Hobbies on ebay. Good folks and fast shipping. If you need any connector pins to adapt the Gargraves to other track or switches call Gargraves direct and they will send them out to you, very nice people. Gargraves also makes a video to go with their track, although I dont have it. You cant go wrong using their track...Tim

pigseyes Thanks for the tip about eBay. The track I am getting is gauge1 3 rail. I'll have to see if they carry that. Do you have any photos of your layout???
