K-line "Easter Egg"--or what added a smile to my Easter day

Skip the first paragraph to get to the "Easter Egg".

I have been a K-line fan since I started into O gauge. When they released the Pennsy Battery Operated Set, I picked one up thinking for around $40 it would be fun for my 3-year old son. Not only was it fun, but just great. It had a nice looking engine w/ remote control, sound, and nice cars. The only problem (and I hear they are working on this) is that it doesn't quite fit standard O-gauge track out of the box, but a little work on the trucks and it worked OK on the Atlas track on my layout. Anyhow, now as I was running my trains with the Cab 1 remote, my son was running his train, on the same pike, with a cute little K-line set. It's great--"daddy's 'mote" and "my 'mote".

Now for the "Easter Egg". I borrowed the term from DVD's and computer games where they use it to describe an undocumented "extra" that is usually found by accident. While my son was running the Pennsy set (see above) for his uncle, the engine suddenly started playing Christmas songs (instead of the usual diesel engine sounds). It was quickly turned off by stopping the engine. Well, dad and uncle played for a while trying to figure out how he'd done it, but no luck. We gave up and handed the remote back to my son who eventually gave it to his sister (age 7). After a few minutes playing around, it happened again. It turns out, if we push all the buttons on the remote simultaneously, the locomotive starts playing Christmas songs. This was great and we had a fun time playing around with our discovery.

Thanks K-line for adding another little something special in the set. [:)]

Happy Easter!!

I'm not very good at video games......but sometimes I find some incredible combo moves by just hitting all sorts of combinatios of buttons. Neat story!
