2 MTH club membership questions
Posted by FJ and G on Monday, March 28, 2005 10:12 AM
2 questions reg. MTH membership that I'd like to join.

https://extranet.mth-railking.com/storest/thums.asp?sid=memberships&cart=234466

At their web site, for 3 rail trains, should I click on the railking button or the premier O scale button, or is the latter just for 2-rail trains.

I like that Santa Fe boxcar (I run santa Fe trains on my layout), so if that's just for 2 rail membership, can the 2-rail trucks be easily pulled off and 3-rail trucks added? or, would it be wiser to click on a different button. I'm a bit confused.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Premier... its going to be a 3-rail car, not a 2rail.

The hint is in the captions on the cars. The RailKing says "O guage" and the Premier says "O scale." It is not always an accurate analogy, but I tend to think of them as being like "O" and "0-27." Not as much detail or attention to scale in the RailKing as there is in the Premier.

Dave the ‘O Scale’ is the Premier Line as compared to the ‘O Gauge’ being the Railking line. Most of the Premier line is still 3 rail.

BTW – when you join, you can order cars from either membership at an extra cost.

The web page comes with either membership. I have the railking membership

thanks, guys, it's just that the coupler looked scale, as did the track in that particular photo when compared to the RK photo. I'll go ahead and order, but don't want extra cars, as my pike's industries can't keep up with the rolling stock...yet

k,

I ordered my membership in the Premier and it definitely has scale couplers in the picture.

Now I can get free web space and annoy everyone with more photos [:D]

Sure why not, you post the same things on two websites now, go for a third. [:0]

BTW.. Coupler on Santa Fe car is the new couplers MTH has put on cars in their Premier line. I would of thought you were up on this, go back to OGR forum and read reviews and look at pictures of the NS cars, Burlington and others. The CWI
cars have these new couplers also. They are not scale/Kaydee couplers..

TomUP,

I was too busy with my construction train, pictured here. I'll try to access their website space tomorrow. Got a bunch of real work to do today.

Here is a short revenue train. This section of track has a wire in the center that's very hard to see. The mighty little puller is a railking. The TOFC is weaver

thus far, the only thing I got from MTH for joining their club is an emailed receipt. Don't I need a password or member # or something to get their webspace?

Yes you will need both a user ID and password. It will be on your membership card when it comes. (by snail mail)
