Railsounds retrofit from tastudio
Posted by ole1 on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 3:21 PM
A little while back I posted asking for some information on Railsounds and retrofitting older Lionel engines/tenders and received a lot of helpful information. I was directed to Train America Studios (www.tastudios.com) and found some great information. I bought a system - 4.0 Railsounds to put in an 8305 Lionel Milwaukee Road engine/tender. This was orginally equipped with the Sound of Steam and had been fried long before I got hold of it. The installation was not to difficult but it was a big leap for me as I'm primarily a modeler and modern electronics are mostly foreign territory. There was one small problem with a loose wire but a call to Mike at TAS resolved it quickly. So now I'm chuffing along better than ever and with a little work on the smoke unit puffing too. So thanks to the guys who responded and to Mike at TAS. Buy the way one of the guys at the railroad club said that "you know you could have bought a new Railsounds tender for what you've spent on that old thing" to which I replied " but look at all the fun I've had". Glad it worked so well. Been studing on TMCC, railsounds and smoke for some older Lionel diesels. Why? To say I can do it.
