Sources for Postwar Space and Military Items????

Hey Guys,

I seem to have taken a slight interest in Postwar Space and Military items.
Im looking for accesories, radioactive cars or similar, and other space and military items.

I'm having a slight problem finding them, so, could any body tell me of any at all sources for Postwar Space and Military items, I just got a new job, and the pay is great, so I now have a wide range budget.

Keep checking eBay......and don't forget train shows and hobby shops that carry used items.

If you're looking for someone to say so-and-so-dot-com has a bunch, you probably won't get any answers--dealers sell whatever it is they've got. If you went into the local shop I frequent last month, you would have thought, "Wow, what a great place to get prewar!" because he had tons of prewar AF, Ives, and Lionel on his shelves. But the same store a year ago had zero prewar other than maybe a single common 1679 boxcar and 1682 caboose.

If you've got a specific interest, your best bet is to be patient, and if you've got a local dealer, make sure you pop in once in a while and buy some stuff so he gets to know you, and ask him if he's got any of what interests you. He may have some in the back room that he hasn't cleaned up for resale yet. These days I buy as much stuff out of my dealer's back room as I do off his shelves, because he knows what I like.

Best thing to do is to make a want list, start keeping an eye out for those things, and cross 'em off as you get them. You'll start to feel better about it as you cross more things off, and you'll probably be surprised how many items from that list you can accumulate over the course of just a year.

In the meantime, enjoy the other aspects of the hobby like building the layout, or building scenery or structures or painting figures. There's a lot you can do when you're starting out while you wait for those must-have pieces to pop up.

In your area around Pigeon Forge there should be a lot of flea markets. You never know what you'll find there. Sometimes when you aren't really looking, that's when you'll find something. Last year I came across some Marklin gauge 1 prewar items. I'd been looking for them for a long time. At the time I wasn't even thinking about them. I found them by accident while I was looking for some sheet metal tools.
