Scratch
Have done a fieldstone foundation and found that a moto-tool equiped with a diamond disc cutter (about $12.00 with mandrel and 5 discs) overcomes the biggest problem of finding flat sided stones or square ones for corners. Plenty of ventilation is a must and outdoors is the best as the dust is a real killer (actually). Ole

Great job, Scratch,

I'm scratchbuilding a refridgerated milk car, and am working on plans for a scratchbuilt brick station. I just finished weathering a Plasticville water tower. Lots of rust. My 4 year old daughter hates it now! She liked it all shiny and new looking.

Are you going to the train show at the Shriner's auditorium in Wilmington, MA the first weekend in April?

I noticed the "bar room" photo. I'm about to start the insane project of making some room scenes for some close-to-the-viewer store/apartment building fronts. I'm waiting for the furniture to arrive, although I'll have to scratch-build the kitchen stuff (can't find anything that looks 1940's-50's). Too bad dollhouse miniatures are too large (1/2-1" instead of 1/4"). Joe

I am experimenting with old textured towels, cardboard and paper to create 2-D hills for a backdrop.

Tom,

Are you thinking of modeling someone taking a bath in the sleeping car? :--)

Thanks for the furniture info, and I'm a half-step in front of you. Got the homeplanfinder stuff today. Nice!...better than I expected. Ordered 3 kitchen items from Oakridge this morning. My wife is probably wondering why I'm building these interiors when I show little interest in improving the interior of the house we live in. Because it's MORE FUN! Joe

And it's a LOT less expensive to furnish your model with a new kitchen!
