Whisteling Tender reopair by NOVICE...Help !

I have a 2466W tender in need of repair. Have read various How-To and parts diagrams. Also vendor parts list (Illustrated....somewhat) I'm still at a loss as to just what to order, and the proper wireing. As it came to me, there are two wires underneath. One firmly and properly attached to the REAR truck. That truck has a roller and pick-up shoe.

The other wire was attached to the FRONT truck by just wrapping around the axle! THATs not correct. That truck has no roller or shoe.

The parts diagrams I have at hand and on-line seem to indicate that there is a "Basic Truck #PT-1 (front) and a rear truck # NTCL-1........read
Question #1....Where should that wire attach
Question #2...Is there any type of pick-up on/in the front truck?
Question #3...Where can I get better tutorials on this type of repair?
Question #4...Are complete truck ***'ys, wheesls, pick ups etc available?

ANY and ALL help will be much appreciated !! From what I've seen this is the best information resource around......

My 2046W matches the 6026W in every way except the body (refer to the link Roy gave you). So the answers are -
#1 - to the roller on the front truck
#2 - yes
#3 - Jim Barrett covers a little on the 2046W in Backshop 9. Jim Weatherford did a more detailed video, but it's "out of print". Otherwise - right here![:D]
#4 - yes (see above)

P.S. DO NOT attempt to remove the impeller from the motor shaft without the proper tool - you'll bend the shaft and have a hard time getting it straight again - DAMHIK. [:I]

The whistle motor should be grounded through the frame, with no wires having any sort of direct path to the center rail. If your 2466W is like mine, it has two wires coming out of the bottom, which should attach to center rail rollers on each of the two trucks.

Most parts dealers should stock a replacment roller assembly. It might not even be necessary to remove the truck, as it should be held on by tabs wrapped around the axles.
