I found this on line and I thought it might be interesting to military / whimsical trains fans out there. Follow this link to a GIJoe train prototype that was almost made in the 1990's/

Very interesting! It's too bad they didn't make it. Actually, back in the 80's, Tyco made an HO G.I. Joe set. They also made HO sets for The A-Team and Rambo. See http://tycotrain.tripod.com/tycotrains/id55.html

Seeing this made me remember an article in the Jan. 1993 CTT about displaying Lionel artwork in your train room. In the article, it shows framed 1970's drawings from Lionel factory of a proposed James Bond 007 train set featuring an Alco FA, 44 Mobile Missile Launcher, Minuteman boxcar, exploding boxcar and helicopter laucher. Lionel really ought to have made that one!

Wow ST they should have made that one. It would have come at a time that Lionel needed some help in the sales area too. There was a bond "O" scale slot car set then that would have fit in well with the bond theme train too.

If Hasbro had made this Gijoe set I am sure there would have been some younger converts. If nothing else I am sure someone would have found a way to power it for three rails.
