A C Gilbert HO pre-WW2 lighted caboose

I got a pre-WW2 Gilbert HO Reading RR lighted caboose which has old style couplers which open in the opposite direction from all recent couplers. I was going to change them to new Kadee couplers, but Kadee thought the caboose might have some collectible value. Does anyone know how much it might be worth. If it's not worth that much, I would just as soon change the couplers and use it on my layout. If it's worth alot, I'll get another caboose.

There IS some collectibility for prewar American Flyer HO gauge, but mainly for mint condition, in the original box, or in kit form items. Generally, the diecast caboose is not very rare and you shouldn't worry about converting it to Kadees. On the other hand, this is not a very detailed car by today's standards, and additionally, converting to Kadees will require some major work. Perhaps you should park it on a sidetrack and get a new caboose!
