We have SC-2 switch controllers on our TMCC layout and have noticed that some seem to be intermittent when controlling one or more of their connected switches while others on the same controller seem to function correctly. We are suspicious that perhaps some of the relay contacts are bad or the some of the relays are otherwise failing (though usually we can hear them click). Can anyone confirm failing relays? Are others having this same behavior and if so, have you found any fix other than purchasing a new SC-2?
The SC-2 is much sturdier than the SC-1, just make sure all of the wires are clean & secured. It's possible that long periods of non-use could cause the relay contacts to be tarnished, but it would get better with use as they are most likely self-cleaning contacts.

Upon further investigation and testing, we have concluded our SC-2s have partially failed, and still suspect the contacts in the relays. We replaced two SC-2 and the new ones work flawlessly (with all the same track switch wiring.) However, one interesting thing is that the older SC-2s (when used for only track switches) said they could be powered from the track switch itself via connection position #1 on the SC-2. The newer SC-2 directions drop this sentence from the manual, and now must be powered with the AC transformer that comes with the unit. (Previously the transformer was only needed to power any accessories you might power from the SC-2.0
