Merry Christmas And Happy Holidays To All!
Posted by Flintlock76 on Friday, December 22, 2023 10:48 AM

Yes, it's time for ol' Flintlock's annual "Christmas Card" to all out there in toy train land!

This one's a real train passing through a town well-lit for the season and I hope you enjoy it.

My best wishes for the season to all!

Oh-so-cool Becky!  Glorious "Black and White!"  Thanks for posting it!

In fact, it's got me in the mood to run my "Party like it's 1939!" 259e set!

Well, in my case yes and no. As a rule I'm not really interested in Pre-Wars but that 259e set was so cool I just had to take it home.  It's probably as far as I'll go with tinplate.

On the other hand if I ever run into a 226e at a decent price I'll probably grab that as well.  I got to handle a 226e once and to say it impressed me is putting it mildly!  What a beast!

At least the Standard/Wide gauge trains are.  The 0 appeal to me less.  So naturally I am attracted to the ones which cost the most and take up the msot room Confused

Naturally!  Wink

My top wish list items include:

  1. Gray 392E and Stephen Gerard cars.
  2. Gray 385E to pull my 500 series freight cars.
  3. Green 381E and State cars.
  4. Orange stripe Black 390E
  5. Mojave 408E and matching 400 series Pullmans.

And of course the Blue Comet Wink

I do strongly appreciate Lionel's SG trains, but I am drawn even more stongly to IVES and Flyer.  At the top of my list is the Flying Colonel, a Flyer set closely related to the Presidential but in darker, military blue and with 4-wheel trucks on the cars.  Flyer's freight cars are hands-down the best.  IVES 3243 is just the best rendition of the NYC S-Motors, and they also have the best Bi-Polars.  And they share top honors for steam, which IVES instigated.  Though Lionel has most of the best accessories--except for Flyer's wooden bridges.

Oh, well:  I like them all!

I have the Stephen Girard cars but they are MTH remake, I also have the 390E, engine has the orange stripe tender doesn't ( this one is original prewar. )
