I don’t know about all of you, but I find it very frustrating that you can’t upload pictures from your ph or computer. I don’t have any other social media other than this site, so that makes it virtually impossible to upload pictures of my own trains or accessories to better describe what I’m trying to say in my questions and posts here in this forum. I really would appreciate it if there was a way to incorporate users to directly upload pictures from their phones or computers. I find it very annoying when I can’t upload a picture of my 2245 Texas special with the shell removed cause the horn still doesn’t work so people here can actually see what the current state of the engine is and possibly figure out what the problem is. Is there a way that the forum could enable users to directly upload pictures from a computer or phone? Thanks

imgur.com is also free. Upload a picture to imgur, copy the BBCode, and paste it here. Very simple and fast.
I don't believe this forum will ever let you post your photos directly on this site.

I imagine that Trains.com provides the forums as a freeby to hobbyists. Storing photos would need a lot of costly storage capacity, so posters need to store their pics on a photo storage site. As other posters have mentioned, there are a number of free photo storage sites. The inconvenience is a small price to pay for free service.

Double Click on photo to open it in a new tab, right click on photo and click on the open in new tab, then copy the web address. come back here click on photo image and insert it in the little window that opens and you have a photo now in your post

Yeah, I remember that conversation. Those are definitely restoration candidates. There's not enough original paint left to be concerned about.

how much money do you think both of those Maroon 607 Macy special cars are worth in their current condition? you can see Macy clearly on one of them for sure and both you can clearly see special on one side. The red lettering maintenance stickers are fully intact on the underside of the cars in between the water tanks.

Not trying to be a wise guy here but honestly in the condition they're in those cars are worth whatever you can get for them. A serious pre-war collector's not going to pay top dollar for them and that's if they even look at them.
I'd go ahead and restore and repaint them. If you like you can mask over the "Macy's" and "Special" plates (or what's left of them) just for origin's sake and the same for the maintenance stickers on the undersides. You're not killing any collector value with a repaint at this point and may actually be enhancing the resale value if you do.

Or you could just use any Rust-Oleum paint you like, not authentic but it'll work.
Just so you know, I've been doing some repaints on the lesser-condition Post-Wars I've got since they're not bringing the money they did a few years back. I love the new look!
