Lionel Conversion to MTH DCS

I'll bet some smart train shop somwhere has figured out how to convert a Lionel loco to run under the MTH ProtoSound2 system. Does anyone know of someone who can do this?

John,

Do you want to upgrade the Lionel from TMCC to PS-2, or just to have the ability to run the TMCC locomotive from the DCS system?

Running TMCC through DCS is simple and requires only that you add a Lionel Command Base and a special MTH cable to your TIU. There have been several recent threads on the from Spankybird, Chief Eagles, and Jim Duda.

If you actually want to upgrade to PS-2, you can either do it yourself, or locate someone who does this kind of work. I believe that someone on the OGR Forum said that the Train Loft would do this. You might also try the Train Shack in Burbank to see if they will do it.

Hi Richard,

There is also an authorized repair guy here in Ohio that will do it.

RAK - Thanks for the reply - - I would really like to modify my Lionel to incorporate PS2 and act just like an MTH loco. Do you know what city the Train Loft is in? I'll check with the Train Shack in Burbank.

Spankybird - - do you have a name and city for the train guy in Ohio??

This is not really about Lionel, but is a question about do it yourself.

How hard is it to do an MTH upgrade to PS 2.0? Has anyone done it yet? I amy fairly handy and can solder OK, but I just want to know what I am getting into. Thanks.

Harry
