Burned Out Lionel 042 Manual Switch
Posted by AttorneyWelton on Monday, December 26, 2022 7:34 PM

I directly wired the lamps in my 042 switches.  The power was turned up too much and one lamp melted.  Now, I cannot get the switch to turn on with a new bulb.  Any idea on what I need to address?

Just guessing, but you may have fried the wiring inside the switch itself.  If I remember those switches correctly you'll have to remove the steel plate on the bottom of the switch to inspect it and maybe rewire it.

And Welcome  aboard!

There is literally just one wire. If you wired it for constant voltage, you can find where the break in the wire is.
