2 weeks +1 to go, most everything is done, guest list is getting finalized and the meeting with the caterer is Monday. I'm just looking forward to a week off at this point.
Need to work on the road runner and the Charger. The Magnum as well. The fleet will be in the wedding, so they all need to be cleaned and polished. That's my job.

Evenin' guys and gals. Sunny and 82 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Spent the day in Winchester. Doc visit, then Hobby Lobby, then Michael's. Picked up some 50% off floral at Michael's, as well as a little park bench and a couple of mini sleds for the layout. Had a late lunch at Outback, then stopped at Mario's Trains. Their show room was nearly empty, as they are moving out of their store on Rte 11. They are moving to a warehouse type store about a mile away. At least they had some Little Lionel track in the clearance bin, so grandsons will be happy with more right of way...
I sure don't know how many people are filling their tanks these days. Every day this week the local stations have risen prices. It is crazy out there. Shelves are starting to empty at a few grocery stores as well. Makes no sense. We have massive farms in the mid-west and South... are they just baren?Fife - I haven't stopped by Mario's yet. Spent yesterday at the chapter caboose and museum. Hot one in CRR #1072, but a breeze off the Potomac kept things tolerable. Railfan Rowan (YouTube) paid a visit, while filming 1309. Cumberland was dedicating a bridge to a beloved politician, so that brought a bit more foot traffic.

Evening fellasBusy weekend... yesterday Matthew and I attended a local rocket club for their monthly launch (cub scout event). Matthew's rocket made a successful launch, but we could not locate it during retrieval... so early exit home. New curtains arrived for the conservatory and I learned another lesson... do NOT assume you know how the length of the curtains will look when hung on the rod... now have to move all the rods up about 5 inches, patch holes, and touch-up the paint. When I asked TheQ if she would be assisting "No. I watched you install the brackets without having the curtains here... you screwed it up... now you get to fix it. Let me know when you are done." Today we took the kids to Hershey Park with Christina's GS Troop. They earned their Bronze awards this year, and as a troop sold over 4800 boxes of cookies, so they decided to treat themselves to a Hershey Park trip. Matthew and I rode a bunch of roller coasters, he was bummed he couldn't get on The Great Bear and Sky Rush (he is about 1/4 inch too short) he really enjoyed the Super Dooper Looper! Christina and her friends rode a bunch of coasters as well. She went on Sky Rush without me, so I was really bummed about that. She will be 11 in a couple months, so I guess Daddy has to get used to not being included in her adventures now. TheQ had fun talking with the moms. Got hit with a strong storm which cut the day short. Maybe will buy a season pass next year since it is only 1.5 hours away... we will see. I'm still working TheQ on installing a pool because one would have come in handy the past two weeks.Fife - how did the landscaping go? We'll be starting our front flowerbed projects this week. No power tools to step ladders involved.

Mornin' guys and gals. weather-wise. Will have to dodge the drops between the Cumberlan RR Museum and the caboose today. All landscaping/lawn maintainance done until next week. Was so tired, in bed at 8pm last evening. Little bear (caught partial image on trail cam) hasn't been back yet, although I think FifeMax may have scared him off two nights ago.
Still working the vegetation on the new scenery section. Fine balance between just enough, and overpowering. Carpet is a mess with all the floral fuzzy pieces.
Thought I would look in and say hi. Been spending all my engery on recovery. I have been getting between 2,100 to 3,700 steps a day in and making inprovements day by day. Things can work good one day and crap out the next. No train news.
Have a good and safe holiday weekend. And don't forget the reason for it.

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny and 59 along the Alleghany front range. Nothing on the agenda today, as we partied yesterday at the in-laws place back in Baltimore County. Great eat'em-ups and drink'em-ups! Grandsons hardly got out of the pool, and I even had the 15 month old dip his toes in. And he didn't like it...
Bear did return a couple nights ago, but didn't smile for the trail cam. Got a cool bite mark on the trash can handle though.

I've always considered myself extremely fortunate in that as far as I know, 20th Century and forward at least, there were zero combat casualties in my family.
It could have been very different considering my mother's father was sitting on a carrier in the Pacific off Okinawa waiting to invade when the war ended. Instead he got guard duty in a postwar environment Instead of taking his chances on a beach assault.
My dad was too young for WW1 and too old for WW2 (he worked with civil defense). My uncle Ralph was an accountant so he was assigned to the quartermaster Corp. in the 60's. My uncle Larry did see combat but he's never talked about what he saw. No PTSD or anything, he just doesn't talk about it.
I may have had family casualties during the Civil War based on old photos I have. Sadly no one is left who can tell me who these people people were. One photo shows an older man who's missing an arm. But I'm not sure if it wasn't a farming accident.
So I thank you for your service veterans!
I report, after a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend, that things are well with me and my family. I spent most of Saturday volunteering at the trolley museum, met some nice families and groups of folks and entertained them well. Sunday went with the family to an art show, ran into my grandparents right when we got there! Lots of fun, I don't think we've been to that show in quite a few years but it was nice to do it again. Monday afternoon I went back to the museum for more action, apparently the morning was very slow but it picked up for the afternoon/evening trick. Met more nice families and amused the kids... not sure who had more fun, them or me!I got myself a heap of standard/wide gauge straight track, mostly American Flyer. I haven't even inspected all of it, but it was a good price and in ok shape. There were two original half-dozen cartons of flyer 4401 track, the contents are in very remarkable condition for how neglected the cartons look. In fact, one of the cartons looks like its contents were never used, there's an envelope inside as well that's still stapled shut, not sure if it contains track clips, spare track pins, or nails, since I don't want to open it if it's still sealed. There were also two 4409 90 degree crossovers. I found a Tyco auto loader in the original box, complete with all 6 autos and their blister package, thought that was neat. And a Fleron Boy Scout morse code signaler in the original box, which was just kicking around with the trains but I decided to nab it since it looked neat.Finished off today going out to have ice cream, I think we all had a great weekend.Hope everyone else was able to spend some time with family and do something nice this Memorial Day!-Ellie

Youngest Princess and her BF washed his big Chevy truck, that he went off'road with... Next time, I'll give him a fistfull of quarters.

Did almost 3 miles with my fire company flag yesterday as part of the color guard. Also a cemetery service and 2 other services on the parade route. We skipped the 2nd parade, everything we're doing is catching up to us. High 80s for the day and sun. I did get my exercise in, that's for sure
Jenni is finishing up portrait #3 of 6, needs to be done by the 12th, so it'll be a mad dash to the end. She's making good progress at least.
We just got the anullment approved, just about the zero hour. All systems are go for the church wedding and reception. Just need to figure out the honeymoon.
94 today and sunny, wet weather either Wednesday or Thursday. Saturday looks like it'll be high 70's and dry (so far).
Spent most of the weekend on the road runner, trying to get that cleaned up. Almost there. A quick wash and vac on Jenni's Charger and we should be all set.
