Any one know how to navigate the Lionel web site "Parts List & Exploded Diagrams"? I put in the product number and nothing comes up.

Hello Joncoy ! If you have a engine such as a Berkshire for example just type in "Berkshire" for the product description line and something should come up for you.Same thing for individual items as Boxcars,Complete motor assemblies,etc.Good Luck & let us know what happens.................Keith.

Have you ever noticed on Lionel's web site how the train goes beneath the Hell's Gate Bridge?

I have a high speed connection to the internet, but I have always wondered if all the graphics slow Lionel's web site down to a crawl using dial up.

That happens to me sometimes, too. Usually it's because the information is under a different number (the little 4-4-2's come to mind). I suspect some of the expensive locos didn't make it, either.

What information are you looking for? I've downloaded all the Supplements thru #46, which was issued 7/03, so maybe I can help.

I have a 4-4-2 that came with the Winter Wonderland Chrismas Train Set. I was trying to find the parts list for the locomotive. No numbers on the loco. Lionel says the part number is 620-8601-001.

Are you sure the train goes under the bridge?
It appears that there is a lower section under the main support that the train is traveling on.
I wonder if this is prototypical?

Pat directed you to Supplement 32, the last supplement to show a parts list & exploded view of the 4-4-2 "Columbias". Even though this supplement was issued in 1996, it still should be adequate for your Winter Wonderland loco.

I'm still trying to learn the Lionel P/N system. Here's what I think is going on:

The current Lionel part numbering system uses 10 digits in the form XXX-XXXX-XXX.

First 3 digits. If the first digit is "6", it probably represents an O-gauge item. If the next two digits contain a "1" or a "2", the item has a five-digit catalog number beginning with a "1" or a "2"
Next 4 digits. This is the heart" of the number, and the one you probably want to use when performing a search on Lionel's website. For example, if you enter "8601" as the search number, you'll get an 8601 2-4-0 (from 1976), a 4-8601 (American Flyer hopper), and 610-8601-001 (from 1988).
Last 3 digits. Identify the specific part. "000" or "001" generally means the complete product.

The number you were given for your loco, 620-8601-001, indicates the catalog number would have been 28601 if it were available separately. However, the Lionel site doesn't give a response for this number, either.[B)]

A question for you - why are you looking for parts for your loco? Problems?

The train (graphic) on the Lionel site is actually traversing a hard-to-discern lower level on the bridge, but it really looks stupid because that's not the configuration you'll find on any Lionel Hellgate bridge ever made. It does appear, to any casual viewer and even to those who have a Hellgate Bridge, that the train is going under the bridge instead of over it. It has been that way on the site for years, and nobody at Lionel has ever seen fit to have it corrected. Go figure!
