I haven't heard about any issues concerning Lionel lately, although they did have a COVID-caused shutdown last year.  I don't know if it's still in effect.

MTH (Mike's Train House) IS ceasing operations however and going out of business.

There is a rumor going around that the store is closing and they're shutting their facility. Lionel denied the rumor.

Lionel claims to have had a good 2020 year probably because the Covid shut in led to a resurgence in the model train hobby.  Corporate America is constantly streamlining operations so I would not worry about Lionel closing up at this time. Covid has also created a pent up demand that will continue for a while. I see the hobby remaining strong for the forseeable future.

As for the store closing, I seem to have heard that it was mainly closed due to safety for their employees because of Corid-19.

An original MR advertiser, I believe, is The Model Railroad  Shoppe, in Dunellen, NJ. I think they were in the first issue. When I was in there recently, I saw the place crowded with mask wearing customers. They commentEd that people not going out so much in last year has been very good for business. they had a great Christmas season.

unfortunately, since then I heard that the owner had died after hitting his head in a fall, and that might leave the future in doubt, but for now, things were being run as usual by the employees. That info is about  4 weeks old.
