'O' Gauge building
Posted by bigkid on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 7:27 PM

After spending 40 years in H.O. I had to leave the hobby due to eye probluems. But now I would like to return to the hobby so I picked on Lionel 'O'' gauge. Anything made between 1950 to 1965 were there any manufactories back then that made building kits back then?

Welcome aboard!

I'm not sure I understand the question, but here goes.

If you're looking for building kits MADE during the period of 1950 to 1965 I'm not sure of any beside the "Plasticville" series which are now collectors items in their own right and if boxed and unassembled are probably best left that way.

However, if you're looking for building kits that COVER the period from 1950 to 1965 you're in much better shape.  Some that spring to mind are available from:

Walthers  http://www.walthers.com  Walthers specializes in HO and N scales but I believe they do have an O gauge/scale set of building kits.

Ameritown/ Ameribuild  http://www.ogaugerr.com/web-store/   They have a good line building kits that fit your period perfectly.

Plasticville is still around and sold by Bachmann.

There may be others but those are the ones that spring to mind.

And welcome to the fun world of toy trains!

Welcome Aboard!

I've been thinking about this since yesterday.  Other manufacturers of building kits around during the postwar era are Marx (reproduced by K-Line in more recent years), Littletown (who Bachmann bought out and introduced to their Plasticville line) and Skyline.
