Early MPC trainmasters how do they compare with postwar?

How do the early MPC FM trainmasters compare with the postwar?

They seem identical except no horn in early ones.  Plus is shells are reinforced.  Any advice on them?  Thanks northernpikefish

Exactly the same but without the horn hardware.

Just need to fully clean and refresh the gear grease and oils if the model has sat for many years unrun.  I have even found some early MPC era stuff to be bone dry grease and oil wise.  Otherwise they are just postwar with a few minor improvements.  I bet the horn hardware can be added to many of them with a bit of work and some parts.   Mike

Plenty of room under the hood to install a Williams diesel sound package, easy install too.

All of the MPC diesel locomotives appear to be exact reruns of the later P/W versions. They have the universal "pullmore" motors but magnetraction and horns were gone ( easily added as in the above post) and traction tires were used. They are reliable and good runnners.

All of the MPC diesel locomotives are essentially exact reruns of the postwar versions. They have the open frame 2321-100 universal motors AND MagneTraction, only the horns were gone ( easily added as in the above post) and traction tires were not used(until the later LTI/LLC PWC versions which have both MagneTraction & traction tires).
