Our O Gauge club was given a modern 027 2-4-2 # 8213. (white stripe, but no Road name) We put together sets to donate to a local thrift store. I find no lever to change to "always forward"... It runs like a champ, but with a beginner transformer, it means an inconvenience to a beginner to the hobby. There is no obvious lever. No serial number other than the 8213. I've searched for an information page, but no luck. I know it's realitivly new, since it has a "can motor" and I can see electronnics, rather than the old style engine. It may have a smoke unit, but without documentation, who knows.. I'd attach a picture, but for some reason, attachment is not highlighted.
Turn the locomotive upside down. On the boiler shell, under the cab window is a small switch. That is the lockout switch for the reverse board. In one position it will allow the locomotive to cycle F-N-R-N, and the other position will lock the locomotive in its present state (forward, neutral or reverse).
Get the loco to run forward, stop it, and slide the switch to the opposite position. That should lock it in forward.
Be advised that the switch and board do fail, so if the loco does not run, the board may have failed, or if you cannot lock the engine direction, the switch may have failed.

Thak you for the quick reply. This engine is missing that whole switch... only a couple of holes where it should be.attached. ... I was hoping there was some hidden spot. But I searched all the logical places...
One of our members is a repair guy and he probably made the change to get the engine running.. He's out of town, so I couldn't check with him, and I couldn't find the diagram on line.... I'll add a note to whoever gets this set... It's not a big deal if you just know about it. Thank you .
