Hello all,
A friend of mine recived from his grandfather a Lionel outfit #2201WS.
I would like to know the value of this set for him. All pieces are boxed and also has the set box too.This set includes the following,
#685 hudson,missing 1 marker light,the rear of the cab is bent a little from being dropped,its not too bad
#6026 whistle tender Lionel Lines,looks like new
#6465 Sunoco tankcar,like new
#6462 New York Central gondola w/ wooden barrels,like new
#6464-50 M&St L boxcar,like new
#6357-25 Caboose brown w/ smokestack,like new
TW transformer,boxed,the black handle is broken but otherwise like new
UCS like new
O22 switches boxed,like new
also has the instruction manual,and a catalog,also track curved and straight
Any help would be appreciated

From "Standard Catalog of Lionel Trains" by David Doyle (2004):

"The same components, without the outer outfit carton, are just a group of trains, and lose their outfit, or set, distinction, and much of the value listed below. In addition to the locomotives and rolling stock shown in these listings, outfits typically came with insturction books and sheets, wire, lock-on, accessory catalogs, brochures, smoke pellets and tampers (if applicable), and miniature billboards. All of these items must be present to realize the full value shown."

2201WS (Type I): 1953 4-Car Freight: 685, 6006W, 6462, 6464-50, 6465, 6537

Unfortunately, David's book does not list the small items included with the sets. Sounds like you've got most, if not all, of them.[:)]
