1. In 1955 discounting was rising, and Lionel responded with (_ _ _ _ _ _) sets for retailers.  One of them was the No. 505X sold by (_ _ _ _ _) as it’s No. 79N09652.
2. As was done in 1954, the 55 catalog used an illustration of the (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _)-Morse diesel with, presumably, a (_ _ _ _ _ _) roof.  But since the illustration of the loco, called a “double-(_ _ _ _ _)” by Sears, is in black and white, it’s hard to say for sure.
3. Sears dropped the (_ _ _ _ _ - _ _ _ _) name in 1956 in favor of the (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) moniker.  Although it would be two more years before the familiar 48 (_ _ _ _ _) (_ _ _) logo would appear on (_ _ _ _ _ _) flanks.
4. The familiar Freight (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) set dropped back to 40 pieces (by Sears’ reckoning), but now one of them was the “dual lever control mechanical (_ _ _ _ _)”.  The set would appear one final time in 1957.
5. Also new in 56 were Lionel’s Sound (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) Station and Marx’ (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _)-Microphone Set.  Since both only appeared once in Sears (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _), it’s a fair assumption that shoppers balked at the idea of giving such (_ _ _ _ _) toys to their children!
6. Pages 276 & 277 were reserved for (_ _ _ _ _ _) trains.  The only steam loco shown was the No. 2016 2-6-4 without (_ _ _ _ _) pulling set No. 79N09606.  The other three sets were shown with the No. 2338 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) Road GP-7, or with one of two GE 44-(_ _ _ _ _ _ _).  Numbered 626 & 627, both displayed a Great (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) logo on the cab sides.
7. 1957’s wish book introduced (_ _ _ _ - _) or “(_ _ _ _ _)-Size Trains” to catalog shoppers.  But (_ _ _ _), Allstate and Lionel O27 sets still dominated.  To go with them, parents were enticed to add the 49N9757 “(_ _ _ _ _ _ _)-operated (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) Station” made by Noma.  Fully assembled (_ _ _ _) batteries for $16.87 or without the sounds in (_ _ _) form for $3.57.
8. Headlining page 258-259 was the “New Allstate (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) Train with (_ _ _ _ _ _) Launcher From (_ _ _ _ _ ‘ _) Roundhouse.”  Priced at $19.85, set No. 79N09626 was “(_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) at it’s best” for two dollars (_ _ _ _).
9. Lionel’s best was set No. 79N09643, a nine (_ _ _ _) freight headed by the No. 2339 (_ _ _ _ _ _) GP-7.  It was one of (_ _ _ _) sets sold “(_ _ _ _) at Sears.”
10. 1958 was a banner year for (_ _ _ _ _) lovers.  Page 249 announced “Holiday (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) Start Here” with a full-page ad for set No. 79FN09994, the “(_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) American (_ _ _ _ _) Two-Train Set.”  The copywriter earned his pay proclaiming “THIS SET SOLD ONLY AT SEARS!” and “Two freights (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) over same track…never (_ _ _ _ _ _ _).”
11. Headed by a No. 355 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) switcher and a 300 series 4-4-2 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) steam loco, A.C. (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ ‘ _) Pull-(_ _ _) finally got to go head-to-head with Lionel’s (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _).

Well, almost.  Sears cut the price of set No. 79FN09994 by (_ _ _ _ _ _ - _ _ _) dollars, stating ”Normally our (_ _ _ _ _) would be $59.98” for this “Giant track system” with it’s “3-dimensional mountain with tunnel and overpass for fascinating (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) over-and-under train operation.”  Quite a bargain!

2. As was done in 1954, the 56 catalog used an illustration of the (FAIRBANKS)-Morse diesel with, presumably, a (MAROON) roof.  But since the illustration of the loco, called a “double-(ENDER)” by Sears, is in black and white, it’s hard to say for sure.
3. Sears dropped the (HAPPI-TIME) name in 1956 in favor of the (ALLSTATE) moniker.  Although it would be two more years before the familiar 48 (STATE) (MAP) logo would appear on (TENDER) flanks.
4. The familiar Freight (TERMINAL) set dropped back to 40 pieces (by Sears’ reckoning), but now one of them was the “dual lever control mechanical (CRANE)”.  The set would appear one final time in 1957.
5. Also new in 56 were Lionel’s Sound (DISPATCHING) Station and Marx’ (LOUDSPEAKER)-Microphone Set.  Since both only appeared once in Sears (WISHBOOKS), it’s a fair assumption that shoppers balked at the idea of giving such (NOISY) toys to their children!

7. 1957’s wish book introduced (HALF-O) or “(HOBBY)-Size Trains” to catalog shoppers.  But (MARX), Allstate and Lionel O27 sets still dominated.  To go with them, parents were enticed to add the 49N9757 “(BATTERY)-operated (TALKING) Station” made by Noma.  Fully assembled (WITH) batteries for $16.87 or without the sounds in (KIT) form for $3.57.

Well, almost.  Sears cut the price of set No. 79FN09994 by (TWENTY-ONE) dollars, stating ”Normally our (PRICE) would be $59.98” for this “Giant track system” with it’s “3-dimensional mountain with tunnel and overpass for fascinating (SIMULTANEOUS) over-and-under train operation.”  Quite a bargain!
