New to Trains, Confused about smoke

Hey all, new to trains and just about finished a Christmas O gauge layout based on an old CTT article. I have a LionChief Plus NW2 Diesel that I got on sale. The instructions say add 15 to 20 drops of fluid into the stacks to start. So it that per stack or 10 in each? I've read other threads where folks talk about adding 3 or 4 drops when smoke starts to diminish. Twenty seems like a lot and I don't want to overdo it. Thanks for any advice.

Two stacks would mean two separate smoke units, at least that's the case on the last Lionel diesel I got, so if the instructions say 15 to 20 per stack it should be OK.  I would also blow gently  down the stacks to clear any bubbles and "seat" the fluid.  

Note:  If your Lionel diesel is like mine it may take a couple of minutes for the smoke units to warm up and start putting out.

The pictorial shows three drops in each stack for the one smoke unit, so four per stack would seem to be OK.

Thanks so much for the reply. I watched the video which had some good information. I was especially struck by the strong recommendation to not add smoke fluid until the unit has cooled off for several minutes. Otherwise, "crystallization" can occur on the element. Diesel is working well. Grandkids will be happy! Thanks again.
