New CTT forum?
Posted by Benjamin Maggi on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 3:20 PM

I just came across this forum and banner at the top says it is by Classic Toy Trains magazine. I don't recall seeing it before, or seeing an anouncement here. Anybody have more information?

That's a new one on me, I've never seen it before.  Let me light up the link for everyone's benefit.  Maybe someone else knows?

Hi guys, This forum has been around for at least two years. They approached CTT back then and asked us to sponsor their forums (like buying an advertisement). We don't own or moderate this forum.

Oh, so that's what it is!  Mystery solved, which is a good thing.  The wife loves mysteries but I hate 'em!  As Captain Kirk once said "They give me a bellyache!"

She loves those TV shows like "Hoarders" too but I have to leave the room when she's watching 'em!  Yuck, yuck, and more yuck!

Thanks Rene!

Thanks Rene! I must say, I find their use of the CTT banner extremely misleading as it appears that it is a CTT forum.

No, it clearly states a Platinum sponsor nothing says they are connected to CTT

wow, they use your logo in their masthead. That should be in the hands of the Kalmbach legal department.

If Kalmbach is sponsoring it, why does the legal department need to be involved?

It CLEARLY states PLATINUM SPONSOR..........

It was started by some folks that are unhappy with the way some other forums were operated.  They went out and started their own forum so they could run it on their own terms.  I joined and read it but haven't posted since March.

It's a friendly group and is less moderated but being a smaller group it's not prone to some of the issues a larger forum encounters.  If you are looking for a lot of technical advice you probably won't find it there, not that that's a bad thing, but if you want to shoot the breeze and discuss non train subjects you'll probably find it a nice fit.

Like any forum there are pluses and minuses.

Only thing you can do is check it out and see if it fits.

Read the previous post. If you go to the site you will see it clearly states they are a sponsor ( which is like CTT advertising on the forum ) So it's all legal. Maybe you should have checked things out first.
