Poll/Opinion about SVC Trains.com
Posted by Planes and Trains on Thursday, January 13, 2005 3:55 PM

Just curious, anybody have comments/problems about SVCTrains.com? Good or bad?

I have bought from other online vendors and want to get a little background about this company before placing an order.

Thank you! [8)]

I have used their for sale board many times and have had very good luck selling things.
Last year I even donated some money to the board to help.
Have never purchased from them though.

Bill (and his son, whom I've spoken to on the phone but whose name I can't remember) provide first-class, honest, service at a nice price. One of the class acts of on-line train shops.

SVC is one of the best places to buy your railroad stuff from. If I didn't have 3 very good LHS's in my area, I'd be buying from SVC.

I often purchase from Uncle Bill including long, sometimes, pre-orders and a couple of emergency Christmas orders. Always received 1st class service.

Bill Oberst is as fine a dealer as you'll find in the hobby. In addition, his free buy/sell site (which welcomes contributions) has provided a real service to the hobbyist--particularly to those of us who want nothing to do with eBay.

Uncle Bill is a good guy and a good dealer, and his buy/sell board is a good place for buyers and sellers alike. I haven't placed any items for sale on his site in some time, but will likely use it again in the near future for some Standard Gauge items I'm looking to sell. I had very good success with selling there in the past, and much prefer that kind of place to, for example, eBay or other auction sites.
