Back from doc appt. A couple more to come. Cool here at 64 - gotta lotta gentle rain the last two days from the hurrycane...looks like it is moving on. Sister sent me a pic of the bayou on the north side of their neighborhood. About to go over the banks. This is the bayou that flooded out their neighborhood a couple of years ago - somewhere around 800 homes trashed, Many still not occupied/repaired. Used to be a very nice neighborhood.
Dennis - surprisingly the El Camino was built from 1959 through 1987. The version DonB and I have are the 5th generation from 1978 - 1987, called the G Body along with the Monte Carlo (shared chassis, parts, etc). The 5th gens are very popular. From '82 on, they only built about 20,000 or less per year.
And - Dallas is having terrible problems with street racing, including blocking freeways and major intersections. A few bystanders have been killed. Idiots. But they have closed all the local race tracks so no place to go "show off".
Brass hex stock showed up yesterday so on to fabricating the exhaust manifold air injection port plugs. Wiring harnes straightened out and located per the drawings. Marked locations of junction with tie wraps for the rewrap. Will work back and forth on the harness and the plugs.
Kev - that is a substanitial foundation - hope they used the new rubberized thick coatings on ot before .

Well not as cold this morning. Had a good small session in the train room last evening. Filled the room with Pine scented smoke fluid. It was still lingering this morning when I left for work.

Morning. 65, cloudy and dreary. Need to see guessers report and find out what is instore. Think tomorrow is 70% chance of rain. Had a very early virtual Human Services Board meeting. Got up early so I could go to BoJ's for biscuits for all [dogs too]. Good meeting without a lot of graphs and charts. A lot of that in our usual meetings. Some required to review and accept [by law]. Others get boring as in our agenda packets. Probably trip to Sam's Club for dog treats [cheaper than Walmart] and coffee filters. Then whatever around the house.SJ, condolences. Sounds too young.
The El Camino I owed was a 71 with different body style. SS with scooped hood, hood tired downs and mag wheels. I drove it, Dad drove it until he died and Frankie drove it for years. Had 260K when we sold it to a restorer. Was an outstanding vehicle. Mainly had to replace valve cover gaskets a lot. Had 350 V8. Would fly. I had it on straight level highway at 2 AM one morning responding to a fire. 120mph and I let off. Have a good day.
Hi guys, Not much to report. I did get my Flu shot yesterday and had a talk about the shingles shot. I got one in 2015 and now they want me to get the new one @ $160 each shot and you need two. maybe not?
Chief, Here is my 72 El camino. It was an AZ army car in drab green when I got it around 1998. I rebuilt the 350 and painted it re-sale red, drove it for about two years. Sold it to a nut job at work who JUST HAD TO HAVE IT.$$$$$ . Those are Pontiac wheels on it.

Well I’m about finished with the wood floor in the living room project. One last piece along the stone hearth fireplace and a toe strip along the entertainment center and it is done. Turned out good. Going to start the kitchen re-do next.

High 50's for a start - high 80's for weekend - ragweed and my sinuses goes nuts...
Got two exhaust manifold plugs made so far. Took a while to figure out best fit and create a drawing for the first one. The second one took a while to determine best machining sequence - trashed one in the process (cross-threaded it).
I owned a 1976 El Camino - silver - plain jane model - that I bought from a guy whose daughter used it to haul hay and tack for her horse. Low miles and they sold it when she went to college. I started to trade it in for the 1984 model and a guy at work who knew folks at the Chevy dealer down the street found out. Chased me down at work and offered me more than the Chevy dealer - I was OK with that! That was the last time I had a car payment - saved and paid cash after that.
Oldest Granddaughter retrieved from her Mom's work [Mom is Community Coordinator for Raleigh PD. She is sworn]. Has to work tomorrow due to planned protest for Breonna Thomas. What the h--- does Louisville KY have to do with Raleigh? Just something to protest over. Raining and raining. 3/4 of and inch so far. Enough coming down to get you wet if you are outside. Guessers crying flash flooding even though latest computer update says less rain than previously forecasted. Was a messy drive to Raleigh and back. Stopped at BoJ's for biscuits.Nana Pam is allowing G'daughter to watch TV. On her school lunch break. She was doing classes while riding in the back of the Caddy. Can do school from satellite network and cell towers. Never dropped her signal. Just do away with schools and save all that money on buildings. [School officials scream when I say that!!!]Later.

Been a little hectic the past few days, been trying to provide moral support for Kay, her Mom isn't doing to well. Last weekend she was pretty good, but took a big turn on Monday. Her visiting nurse was in for a routine checkup and Kay was concerned regarding her demeanor, etc.. Tuesday Kay took her to a wound clinc at the hospital, when they went to leave she was having respitory problems. Kay took her to ER (next building), and she has been there ever since. Currently on a breathing treatment and vitals dropping, not eating, and very weak. Fortunately, they are permitting Kay to visit her in the hospital. (visitors are not allowed unless it is severe.) I don't think her Mom will be coming home. Its in the Lords hand now.
This has been a long time coming, but Kay is preparred as much as she can be.

High school teams have a double header tomorrow, which will be nice. Dumb stupid question, but does anyone know who from or where I could get some Lionel dealer posters, specifically from the 80s? I would appreciate it. I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' boys. Cloudy and 57, with leaves starting to change color, along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Youngest Princess came home for the weekend. She got the cashier gig at the college cafeteria. Might have to make a little campfire tonight for smores. Had dinner at Middle Princess's castle yesterday, as Wifey does a little house cleaning for the busy couple. Took FifeMax along, and introduced him to their Ella, a mixed fox terrier. He was kept outside the fenced yard, and he did better than I expected. To be continued.

Got the brass plugs fabricated - yesterday went well and somehow I got the 8 completed - and now I need some copper based anti-seize to install them.
On the right is a piece of the stainless steel AIR tube and flare nut. This will allow me to finish other things - A/C and ECM wiring harness - on the engine with the AIR system (which needed replacing) out of the way.

Hello there. Thanks for the Prayers. Got a call late last night. Mom not doing so good. At 99 her body dosen't have the strength to fight it. Made the decision to keep her at the nursing home and let the chips fall where they may. Flintlock......condolences. Don........Prayers for you and yours. Charlie.....that looks scary. How is the trap shooting going? Kev.....nice El Camino. Mine is a 70, 307 with the Torque glide 2 speed. Bought it in 74 just after the gas crisis. I looked at a 71 with a 396 4 speed. The price of gas and insurance made me pass on it. $1.75 an hour didn't go far. Best move on. Headed to the dirt drag. Son and grandson both participants. Last race of the season. Prayers for those in need, those affected by the fires, hurricanes and the end of this pandemic.

Not a dumb question, the only dumb question is the one you're afraid to ask.
As to posters, your best bet may be to visit train shows if and when they start up again. There are railroad and toy train ephemera dealers out there, keep your fingers crossed and hopw you get lucky.
My club's got a show scheduled for November 15, I'll be making a separate post about it.

Got CTT today. Good issue. Watched the high school kids play today. Thought the boys might pull off a win but things did not go well the second half. I had heard of the Madison Poster place but that was mostly postwar. When Train Express closed, they were selling a lot of dealer posters back then. Should have bought it then..... Spent a good portion of yesterday with the Youngest Princess. She wanted to practice parallel parking for her upcoming test, using her sister's car, as the Durango too big for her. We roasted marshmallows right after dinner. I actually ate my meal next to the campfire, which was relaxing. Started to think of Blazing Saddles...
My neighbor was helping me cut up a fallen tree, and I finally got him to check out the layout room. He has American Flyer S, and a few samples of Lionel Postwar. Ran trains for him, and he enjoyed the show. Actually inspired me to whip up another tray of spring trees. I'll be needing some more light green ground foam before I can create any more.
